Biggs, William D. – Simulation and Games, 1978
The general management simulation game, Tempomatic IV is used in a comparison of ranking and relational performance evaluation procedures. Results indicate that the relational approach has clear advantages over ranking approaches, especially in generating more useful information. Also, reliance on mechanically generated scores can lead to…

Noesjirwan, Jennifer; Freestone, Colin – Simulation and Games, 1979
Presents a simulation game used to verify the theory that culture shock in the form of confusion, hostility, and anxiety occurs when interpersonal communication between interactors from different cultures breaks down. (CMV)

Williams, Robert H. – Simulation and Games, 1980
Three groups of 109 undergraduates evidenced attitude shifts from participation to simulation games which were structured in accordance with either the cognitive dissonance or incentive models of attitude change. Identification was suggested as an extra factor influencing attitude change. (CMV)

Fennessey, James; Horiuchi, Shiro – Simulation and Games, 1979
According to this study, it is feasible to use groups of teachers as means of developing diagnoses and assessments about concrete aspects of school situations. The pooling of judgments allows capitalization on teachers' collective professional wisdom while neutralizing individual idiosyncrasies. (Author/CMV)

Allen, Layman E.; And Others – Simulation and Games, 1978
Studies the extent to which the effectiveness of instructional gaming in learning specific mathematical ideas can be increased by incorporating devices that channel learners' attention upon those ideas. In particular, the effect of channeling attention by changing the method of scoring is explored. (Author/CMV)

Brand, Charles F. – Simulation and Games, 1980
Study examined the influence of 141 fifth graders of two sociometric variables, mutual selection of playing partners and membership in a cohesive group, on learning from classroom simulation games. Although cognitive learning evidence existed, no effects of sociometric grouping were apparent. (CMV)

Diehl, B. J. – Simulation and Games, 1979
The current level of simulation and game (SG) research and development activity in Australia is limited compared with levels in America and England; but Australian interest in SG is rapidly increasing, especially due to the recent formation of the Australian Decision-Simulation and Educational Gaming Association. (CMV)

Remus, William; Jenner, Steve – Simulation and Games, 1979
Comparisons were made of attitudes and behavior between single- and multiperson teams in business simulation games. Multiperson games gave rise to higher initial goals for business success, but lower individual feelings of responsibility for outcome. (CMV)

Lester, James P.; Stoil, Michael J. – Simulation and Games, 1979
Examines the effect of a role-specific simulation upon student knowledge, motivation, and evaluation of the course and instructor in an undergraduate political science course. Results indicate that role-specific simulations can have a positive effect on the learning process. (Author/CMV)

Orbach, Eliezer – Simulation and Games, 1979
Using Adar's fourfold classification of students according to dominant motive for learning, it is argued that simulation games possess greater motivational power than other techniques of instruction given their ability to overcome three motivational difficulties. (CMV)

Williams, Robert H.; And Others – Simulation and Games, 1986
Study designed to determine which version of a game developed in strict compliance with competing models of incentive and dissonance would be more effective in producing attitude change found that results were similar in the experimental groups. Similarity is attributed to sense of identification with simulation characters reported by subjects.…
