Edney, Julian J.; Grundmann, Michael J. – Small Group Behavior, 1979
The results suggested group space boundaries increased with group size (from groups of one to two to four) if group members were strangers, but not if group members were friends. The only nonspatial variable found to correlate with boundary size was personal identity. (Author)

Farrell, Michael P. – Small Group Behavior, 1979
This study first investigates the effects of group structure on collective projections in groups, then examines how collective projections feed back and affect group structure. It examines the effects of having a deviant in a group on group projections and responses. (Author)

Powell, Evan R. – Small Group Behavior, 1982
Focused on applying a variation of the semantic differential technique (SD) to changes in group structure over time and treatment. Members (N=29) of two T groups rated their respective group members on an SD form. Results showed acceptance of members increased as the groups progressed. (RC)

Neimeyer, Greg J.; Merluzzi, Thomas V. – Small Group Behavior, 1982
Presents literature relevant to initial group structure and advances a model of group development based upon personal construct theory. The proposed model illuminates the relationship between initial structure and the psychological processes underlying group development. Research questions are posited to advance empirical tests of the model. (RC)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Cognitive Processes, Contracts, Group Dynamics

Rossel, Robert D. – Small Group Behavior, 1981
Examines group structure and process through a serious consideration of word play of group members. Issues explored include ways in which metaphors externalize emotions, human identities are constructed metaphorically, interactional situations are managed metaphorically, and humor is related to dominance. (RC)

Hazell, Joseph William – Small Group Behavior, 1975
The author describes a technique used in encounter groups, called query, which is action oriented and aims at promoting the self insight of group members. Asking questions of one another and role playing are two major aspects of the technique described. (SE)
