This research explores the impact of leader behavior on individual group members in growth groups. Affect of message was found to be the only predictor of member-disclosure. Effects of leader-disclosure on member self-disclosure is difficult to interpret. (MFD)

This model deals with change in student's self-concept over a period of instruction in communication intervention. No consistent evidence was found that communication intervention had impact on changing one's self-concept. Self-awareness should be taught as a separate course from communication. (MFD)

Stanton, H. E. – Small Group Behavior, 1975
The Gross Self-Insight Scale was administered to an encounter group and a control group before and after the group experience. The scale was found to have very high reliabiltiy and moderately high validity. Observation of the encounter group members' behavior supported the change in the scale scores of group members. (SE)

This report deals with the measurement of personality changes employing two modes of statistical treatment of data derived from two modes of group confrontation procedures. One group met for 12 weekly three-hour sessions. The other group met in an intensive group confrontation procedure for a continuous 38-hour session. (Author)

This research evaluates why individuals seek out or avoid encounter groups. The most important reasons for participation include; self-understanding, overcoming specific problems and learning to express feelings. Reluctance may come from lack of trust and fear of losing control. (MFD)
