The attitudes of cognitively complex subjects were not more likely to polarize after thought. No differences between complex and noncomplex subjects were obtained with the original set, and with the replication set noncomplex subjects were more likely to polarize. Examined whether reading the Darley and Batson study served to change subjects' understanding of the determinants of helping, and if subjects would come to regard degree of hurry as an important predictor in similar helping situations. Found subjects predicting helping behavior in similar situations were influenced moderately by hurry. (RC)

Professional men and women (N=20) half above and below the age of 30, were signaled at random by an electronic paging device. Analyzed self-reports on seven cognitive and affective measures. Environment demonstrated a highly significant impact on respondents' reports and significant contrasts in cognitive and affective states appeared. (Author/RC)
