In this study a male experimenter's style of dress had significant influence upon the number of agreements from older and younger women to answer the interviewer's questions and no influence upon men. Postcards containing a message either favorable or unfavorable for the recipient, were "lost" in the public transportation systems of Paris, Madrid, London, Geneva, and Frankfurt. Groups of about 35 subjects were given Neutral, Low and High motivating instructions before completing the Shortened Form of Betts' Questionnaire upon Mental Imagery.
