Case study results of a cooperative education program are presented. Conclusions drawn from this study indicate student expectations and perceptions of the co-op experience are critical to the experiential learning process. Research methods and results used to assess the economic outcomes of vocational education are illustrated. Positive cost benefit analysis findings have been replaced by negative, or minimal, conclusions of large-scale effects assessment. This study describes the development and application of a needs assessment measure used to evaluate two inservice courses for Israeli mathematics teachers.
