Asian/Pacific Islander Women in Medical Education: Personal and Professional Challenges.
Wear, Delese
Teaching and Learning in Medicine, v12 n3 p156-63 Sum 2000
This qualitative study sought to identify the complex issues facing Asian/Pacific Islander (API) women students at one Midwestern medical school as they subjectively experience their medical training. Students reported parental and Asian community influences on their decision to enter medicine; most thought faculty perceive them as "quiet," often too quiet. Stressors included competition, achievement, and intimate relationships. (EV)
