Salient features of an ideal system of instruction are discussed. There have been recent attempts to write formulas for instruction and to individualize teaching in ways suggested by the science of behavior. DNA technologies may some day enable us to trace correlates of intelligence. We could then design individual educational strategies. (RM)

Inquiry teaching requires students to engage in hypothesis formation, collection and evaluation of evidence, and the drawing of logical conclusions. Prerequisite skills for inquiry learning are discussed, and examples of inquiry learning in a college level general psychology course are presented. (RM)

The achievement of educational goals requires the psychology teacher to display a special kind of courage. Challenges to that courage are discussed. These challenges are involved in lecturing, questioning, and discussion; in teaching historical perspectives and controversial issues; and in working with student and teacher values and attitudes.
