Newland, T. Ernest – Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, 1979
The Blind Learning Aptitude Test (BLAT), an individual test, is described. Distinction is made between product and process sampling in testing for learning aptitude. Standardized upon 961 educationally blind children, it has high reliability; and its validity, particularly with respect to the more complex school learnings, is clearly indicated.…

Rennick, Phillip M.; And Others – Adolescence, 1978
Factor analyses of the WISC, ITPA, and PIAT, revealed that 85 percent of the total variance of these tests can be accounted for by an abbreviated battery of 12 of the 26 subtests. Results indicated a very tight relationship between academic achievement and academic aptitude, even in underachievers. (Author/SJL)

Wikoff, Richard L.; Parolini, Roger J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Investigated validity of the Short Form Test of Academic Aptitude (SFTAA) as a predictor of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) Full Scale IQ. Tested junior-high students and found the WISC-R could be estimated satisfactorily from the SFTAA, which was shown to be a valid indicator of intelligence. (Author/JAC)

Vandivier, Phillip L.; Vandivier, Stella Sue – Educational Forum, 1979
Discusses the most widely used individual intelligence tests: Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) and Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale (Form L-M). Covers what the tests measure; psychometric or technical properties of the tests; and how test results are used. (JOW)

Dean, Raymond S.; Kundert, Deborah King – Journal of School Psychology, 1981
Experimental results indicated that verbal intelligence was the best predictor of childrens' overall performance on a paired-associate learning task. Teachers' ratings provided a surprising degree of predictive efficiency for abstract recall which was redundant with verbal intelligence. (Author/JAC)
