Marginality, Modernity, and Anxiety in Indochinese Refugees.
Smither, Robert; Rodriguez-Giegling, Marta
Journal of Cross-Cultural Psychology, v10 n4 p469-78 Dec 1979
Vietnamese and Laotian refugees scored higher in marginality and anxiety and lower in modernity than Americans. The relationship between marginality and anxiety was negative for Laotians, not significant for Vietnamese, and positive for Americans. These findings question the relevance of the concept of marginality in studying refugees' psychological states. (Author/GC)
