Hofer, Manfred; Kuhnle, Claudia; Kilian, Britta; Fries, Stefan – Learning and Instruction, 2012
The predictive power of cognitive ability and self-control strength for self-reported grades and an achievement test were studied. It was expected that the variables use of time structure, academic procrastination, and motivational interference during learning further aid in predicting students' achievement because they are operative in situations…

Sloat, Donald; And Others – 1982
The problems involved in measuring psychotherapeutic effectiveness must be addressed first by developing specific criteria for measuring behavior change. These criteria can be established when a clear-cut distinction between acceptable and unacceptable behavior is well defined. To illustrate the potential use of regression methodology in measuring…

Firestone, Robert W. – 1992

Kelly, Thomas M.; Lynch, Kevin G.; Donovan, John E.; Clark, Duncan B. – Suicide and Life-Threatening Behavior, 2001
Adolescents diagnosed with at least one mental disorder were studied to determine predictors of suicidal ideation and suicide attempts. Major depression was predictive of suicidal ideation and attempts for both genders. Chronic stress was found predictive of male suicidal ideations, while low self esteem and family dysfunction were predictive in…

Lindgren, Scott D. And Others – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1986
Examined cognitive and personality patterns of 84 court-referred adolescents to identify predictors of recurrent delinquent behavior. Newcombe, Nora; Dubas, Judith Semon – Child Development, 1992
Examined the longitudinal predictability of spatial ability in late-adolescent females. No timing of puberty or lateralization effects were observed. These findings strengthen evidence that sex-related differences in spatial ability could be experientially determined and may help to focus the search for exactly how this occurs. (Author/GLR)

Spirito, Anthony; And Others – Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology, 1988
Psychometric properties of the Hopelessness Scale for Children (HSC) were evaluated with 834 normal adolescents and 93 adolescent suicide attempters. Positive correlations with depression and depressive attributional style were found for the suicide attempter group. These and other results are discussed in terms of the utility of the HSC. (JW)

Proefrock, David W. – 1983
The recent development of strong statistical techniques has made accurate predictions of recidivism possible. To investigate the utility of discriminant analysis methodology in making predictions of recidivism in juvenile offenders, the court records of 271 male and female juvenile offenders, aged 12-16, were reviewed. A cross validation group…
