Simpson, Robert G.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between auditory discrimination, as measured by the Wepman Auditory Discrimination Test, and reading achievement, as measured by the Woodcock Reading Mastery Tests. After controlling for intelligence, there was little more than a random relationship between auditory discrimination and…

Chodzinski, Raymond T.; Randhawa, Bikkar S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
This study investigated the factor structure of the 10 subtests of the Career Maturity Inventory (CMI). Although two principal factors emerged, the CMI Competence and Attitude subtests did not load distinctly on the two separate factors. Results also tended to indicate that the discriminant validity of the CMI may be minimal. (PN)

Wolf, Thomas M.; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1982
A factor analysis of the Children's Nowicki-Strickland Locus of Control Scale was conducted with a biracial sample of children over a wide age range. Three factors (personal control and helplessness, achievement and friendship, and luck) had sufficient item loadings to be interpretable. (Author/GK)

Stoner, Sue B.; Spencer, W. Boyd – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
The Anger Expression Scale (AX) was administered to 150 volunteers ranging in age from 21 to 83 years. The AX yields three scores, anger-in, anger-out, and total AX. Results indicated that both the young adult and middle age groups had higher total AX than the older group. (Author/BS)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Adults, Affective Measures, Age Differences

DeFilippis, Nick A.; Fulmer, Kathleen – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
The scores of elementary school students on the Quick Test were compared with scores on the Full Scale Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised. The relationship between the two tests varied significantly with age and intelligence levels. (Author/CP)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Elementary Education, Intelligence Differences, Intelligence Tests
Rexrode, Kathryn R.; Petersen, Suni; O'Toole, Siobhan – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2008
For more than 20 years, the Ways of Coping Scale (WOCS) has been used extensively to measure coping. Yet beyond the original psychometric data, few studies have reexamined its properties utilizing the enormous body of research generated on the WOCS. Reliability has been assumed to be consistent as an attribute of the test. This study used…

Carter-Saltzman, Louise; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1975
Assessed the validity of reports on family social status by comparing responses of co-twins. Co-twin agreement on factual items about their family is a particularly good criterion for evaluating the validity of a socioeconomic status measure. (RC)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Family Status, Racial Differences, Socioeconomic Status

Morrison, James A.; Michael, William B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The concurrent and discriminant validity of La Prueba de Analisis Auditivo, a Spanish auditory perception test, and the validity of the perceptual deficit hypothesis and of hypotheses derived from verbal processing theory were evaluated in a sample of 114 second-grade Hispanic pupils receiving reading instruction in Spanish. (Author/BW)

Dillon, Ronna; Carlson, Jerry S. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1978
The effects of performance-enhancing modifications of testing procedures of a Piagetian-type instrument were investigated for samples of elementary school-aged White, Black, and Mexican-American children. Results are discussed in terms of test validity. (JKS)
Descriptors: Age Differences, Cultural Influences, Developmental Stages, Developmental Tasks

Cunningham, Walter R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1980
Army alpha longitudinal data on the same 96 males tested in 1919, 1950, and 1960 were analyzed in addition to data on 123 undergraduates tested in 1972-4. Young adults in 1919 and 1970 were similar. Results suggest that traditional factor analysis taxonomies for young adults misrepresent elderly persons. (Author/CP)
Descriptors: Adults, Age Differences, Cognitive Development, Factor Analysis

Stake, Jayne E. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1994
The Six-Factor Self-Concept Scale was developed as a multidimensional measure of adult self-concept to be applicable across life settings and activities. Confirmatory factor analysis reveals a reasonably good fit for data from a sample of 365 noncollege adults. High factor congruence is found between gender and age groups. (SLD)
Descriptors: Adults, Age Differences, Factor Structure, Goodness of Fit

LeGagnoux, Gerald; And Others – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1990
The relationship of retest effects from pretest to posttest 2 to 4 weeks later was studied for 2,014 elementary school children (second through sixth graders) taking a battery of 26 multifactor aptitude tests--the Structure of Intellect Learning Abilities Test. Implications of score gains are discussed for age and gender groups. (SLD)

Hagger, Martin S.; Biddle, Stuart J. H.; John Wang, C. K. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 2005
This study tests the generalizability of the factor pattern, structural parameters, and latent mean structure of a multidimensional, hierarchical model of physical self-concept in adolescents across gender and grade. A children's version of the Physical Self-Perception Profile (C-PSPP) was administered to seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade high…
