To examine the number of subjective age categories in the post-high school portion of the American lifecycle, adult respondents sorted cards describing people in terms of major life events and classified them according to age. A nonlinear decrease in the number of age distinctions occurred in the late portion of middle age (46-65 years). (Author)

Panton, James H. – Offender Rehabilitation, 1977
Analysis of MMPI test differences between 120 aged inmates (age 60 and above) and a representative population sample of 2,551 male inmates revealed that the mean test profiles of both groups were indicative of a behavior disorder, with aged inmates presenting more neurotic and less psychopathic responses.

Botwinick, Jack; And Others – Journal of Gerontology, 1975
Vocabulary test responses as traditionally scored were compared to these same responses when scored for finer nuances of understanding, as determined by the criterion of superior synonyms. Hypothesized the latter would be more related to age in a deficit pattern than the former. Results partly supported the hypothesis. (Author)

Changes in individual attitudes toward traditional morality are charted by focusing on a sample of 1950 persons from rural Pennsylvania surveyed as high school sophomores in 1947 and again 24 years later.
