Examined the relationship between the assertiveness, conformity, and drug use of 16 university students. Subjects were exposed to a series of 10 conformity tasks based on Asch's classic paradigm. Assessed the impact of assertion training on college students' (N=48) drug use. Results showed the assertion training group exhibited significantly less willingness to use drugs, less drug use, and more drug refusals than a placebo discussion group.
