Callanan, Gerard A.; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1992
Cluster analysis of data from 397 banking managers and professionals revealed 4 subtypes: chronic and developmental career-undecided employees and vigilant and hypervigilant career-decided employees. Results of an exercise in which 145 banking managers mentored a hypothetical protege indicated that mentors anticipated greater rewards and were more willing to mentor the better their proteges' past performance. Mentors were more willing to mentor and anticipated greater rewards if male proteges were married and female proteges were single. (SK)

A fuzzy graphic rating scale elicited work preferences and job perceptions of 166 (of 170) Australian bank employees. Correspondence between preferences and perceptions correlated significantly with job satisfaction. Satisfaction and performance related to tenure intentions; this relation was higher for poorer performers. (SK)
