This study of adopted and fosterbabies indicates that the degree of pregnancy anxiety experienced by their biological mothers does not have an enduring effect on the infants' temperaments. Lasting effects of maternal anxiety on the infant appear attributable to continued distress of a mother caring for the infant after delivery. (Author/CS)
