Investigated adolescent males' recognition of evaluative words spoken near threshold by male and female voices. Closed-style subjects (theoretically characterized by social withdrawal and perceptual blocking) recognized fewer female-spoken (relative to male-spoken) words; this finding is consistent with adaptive-style theory. The activity level of preschool boys relative to preschool girls was observed to find whether a sex-linked pattern of hyperactivity is observable in the general population. Boys were found to be more active than girls, with patterns similar to those included in definitions of hyperactivity. (GO)
