Gynther, Malcolm D.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1973
This study attempted to demonstrate behavioral correlates of two related Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory code types (4-9,9-4) with inpatients from state psychiatric facilities. The findings are discussed in terms of the discriptors available, the role of base rates, and similarity-dissimilarity of 4-9 profiles. A suggestion is offered…

Saunders, Thomas R., Jr. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1973
Those Ss who scored high, medium or low on a scale of trait (predispositional) anxiety were found to differ reliably in level of state (situational) anxiety when tested before and after two standardized interviews. This relationship held for both male and female Ss, although males manifested consistently higher levels of state anxiety than…

Holland, Terrill R. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Drug abuse scores from prisoners resulted in two factors describing lifetime use of cannabis versus opiates. Analysis of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) profiles versus drug abuse patterns indicated moderate, unidimensional relationship between variables. MMPI profiles of opiate users were similar to those identified in research…

Rosen, Anne-Sofie; Schalling, Daisy – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1974
The purpose of the study was to isolate groups homogeneous in role-taking ability and to describe them on dimensions of the California Psychological Inventory (CPI) Socialization (So) scale. The results support the validity of some of the subscales as indicators of the role-taking construct underlying the So scale. (Author)

Law, H. G.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1979
Investigated the adequacy of the Rathus Assertiveness Schedule (RAS) as a global measure of assertiveness. Analysis indicated that the RAS does not provide a unidimensional index of assertiveness, but rather measures a number of factors including situation-specific assertive behavior, aggressiveness, and a more general assertiveness. Lorr, Maurice; Hamlin, Roy M. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1971
The study sought to evaluate the extent to which certain objective tests, ward behavior ratings, recorded verbalization scores, and interview behavior ratings possessed convergent and discriminant validity for 10 psychotic syndromes. It was concluded that the convergent and discriminant validity of the syndromes is strongly supported. (Author)

Carroll, Jerome F. X.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Compared self-concept scores from the Tennessee Self Concept Scale of alcohol- and drug-dependent men. Analysis yielded three significant results: true-false ratio, psychosis, and personality disorder. Data indicated similarity in all men regarding self-concept. A multivariate design in examining substance patterns and self-concept was…

Dudley, Gary E. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1978
Investigated effects of sex difference, social desirability instructions, and birth order of respondents on defense mechanisms inventory (DMI). Sex difference was found in projection only. Social desirability effects were found in turning-against-others, projection, principalization, and reversal. Thus, an interpretive caution is in order…

Epstein, Jeffrey N.; Willoughby, Michael; Valencia, Elvia Y.; Tonev, Simon T.; Abikoff, Howard B.; Arnold, L. Eugene; Hinshaw, Stephen P. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 2005
Significant ethnic differences have been consistently documented on attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) teacher rating scales. Whether these ethnic differences result from a teacher rating bias or reflect actual classroom behavior patterns is unknown. Ethnic differences between Caucasian and African American (AA) elementary…
