Peer reviewedHendrickson, Jo M.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1981
Identifies social behaviors observed in (N=115) preschool children while manipulating various toys and materials in a preschool setting. Yarber, William L.; Anno, Tim – Health Education (Washington D.C.), 1981
A human sexuality course was offered to students at the university level. It was hypothesized that the course would result in decreased levels of sex guilt and would increase permissiveness toward premarital sexual intimacy. Findings suggest a decreased level of sex guilt for males and an increase in females' attitudes of permissiveness. (JN)

Peer reviewedDeShazer, Steve – American Journal of Family Therapy, 1979
Presents a model of brief therapy with families allowing the therapist to develop a cognitive map of triadic interaction with a completeness which words alone cannot capture. The family is viewed as an interlocking system of interdependent relationships. Case material illustrates the use of this model in changing dysfunctional patterns. (Author)
Descriptors: Behavior Patterns, Behavior Problems, Case Studies, Family (Sociological Unit)
Peer reviewedOakland, Thomas – Journal of School Psychology, 1980
Examined relationships among the ABIC, pluralistic assessment's Estimated Learning Potential (ELP), and school achievement for elementary children. The ABIC is largely independent from both WISC-R IQs and achievement. In contrast to highly significant IQ-achievement correlations, the ELP-achievement correlations tend to be lower. (Author/BEF)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Adjustment (to Environment), Behavior Patterns, Elementary School Students
Young, Michael – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1981
Analyzed female college students' responses on a religiosity scale and a sexual behavior inventory. Three groups were identified as to their frequency of intercourse. Five religiosity items significantly discriminated the three groups. Results indicated females differing in sexual behavior can be distinguished on the basis of religiosity. (Author)

Peer reviewedRose, Keith R.; Willower, Donald J. – Education, 1981
Responses from a sample of 71 secondary teachers and 1,272 students were consistent with the hypothesis that teachers' sense of power would be directly associated with the consistency of their beliefs and behavior concerning pupil control. Biber, Sharlene Hesse; And Others – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1980
A random sample of 195 undergraduates revealed distinct sex differences in drinking type, quantity, variability and frequency of alcoholic consumption. Collegiate drinking typifies sex-role appropriate behavior. Alcohol education programs are needed to offset sex-role drinking norms. (Author)
Descriptors: Alcohol Education, Behavior Patterns, Behavior Problems, College Students

Discusses assumptions and criticisms of rule-governed approaches to interpersonal communication research and theory.
