Two factors that may account for the differences in behavior between these groups of migrant workers are: (1) the relative value of the wages paid to Jamaicans and black Americans; and (2) the actual, as well as perceived, opportunities for mobility of each group. (Author/AM)

A study compared pupil perceptions of class position with preference rankings by the teacher. Sample was comprised of one class of eight to 11 year old students in a Catholic school in England.
