Examined the effects of the Disruptive Child's Play Group (DCPG) on the self-concept of children with disruptive behavior problems. Results indicated that counselors using structured play can have positive effects on the attitudes of disruptive children. The DCPG significantly increased self-concept scores of disruptive children. Based on Carroll's model of school learning, this study sought to identify factors to help explain the discrepancy between time needed for learning and time actually spent in learning. Seventeen children ranging in age from 9 to 15 years and from grades four and eight in five classes for students with emotional conflicts were placed on a video game reward system. A case study to determine the extent to which teacher decisions about students are influenced by teacher tolerance for students' behavioral characteristics revealed that teacher tolerances affected the ratings of an immature elementary student but not the ratings of an unmanageable elementary student, who was viewed more negatively overall.
