Study of desegregation efforts in the Oklahoma Independent School District and residence patterns in the Oklahoma City metropolitan region reveals that desegregated schools do not lead to desegregated housing: there is little if any direct relationship between student assignments and household relocation behavior. Study of census figures for Pittsburgh between 1900 and 1920 reveals that World War I had only a small measurable effect on reducing occupational segregation of Black men and White men and residential segregation by race.
