The Great American Landmarks Adventure.
Weeks, Kay
This profusely illustrated booklet, written primarly for school children, includes drawings and descriptions of 43 of the National Historic Landmarks located in the United States. The accounts move chronologically from prehistoric cave paintings through the moon rocks collected by the Apollo astronauts in 1969. Most of the drawings represent the landmarks as they appear today, showing what visitors would see if they went to the building or site. Other drawings are based on old photographs so that important events can come to life. The black and white drawings may be colored or painted by the student. There is also a page on which students can draw their own pictures of something that they they think should be a landmark. In addition, the book includes a guide to the landmarks and information on how students can help preserve them. (LBG)
