A computerized patient record-keeping system in a pediatric residency program revealed limitations in residents' patient experiences and imbalances in their workload and curriculum and has been used by the faculty to correct them. A model medical care evaluation (MCE) program was implemented at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. The program was evaluated by quantitative and qualitative observational techniques, questionnaires, and interviews, and by comparing committees for which the implementation was highly successful with those less successful.
