Formative Evaluation of the No-Fee Teacher Education Program from the Students' Standpoint

This exploratory case study applied a formative evaluation framework to evaluate the no-fee teacher education program at Southwest University. The study focused on the students' perspective and their perceptions of the program, both intrinsic and extrinsic. A self-evaluation checklist and a questionnaire were the instruments used to collect data. Some of the findings indicated that the students were not fully prepared to become qualified teachers. The students evaluated the program's effectiveness as fairly high, but their critical feedback deserves attention for the sake of advancing and improving this teacher preparation program.
