Advocates that students pursuing the study of chemistry be kept aware of the nature of chemistry outside the academic world. Methods include co-op programs with chemical industries, specific instruction in areas of industrial import, and laboratory work with an industrial flavor. (GS)

A survey conducted by the College Placement Council indicates that employment for chemical professionals has made solid gains in the Spring of 1977, especially in the hiring of new graduates by industry, schools, and government.
