Kopala, Beverly – Journal of Professional Nursing, 1994
Case studies of nurse educators suggest that client safety is primary; student learning takes precedence over nursing practice values; values hierarchy differs from that of practicing nurses; and important practice values may be compromised to provide appropriate learning experiences. (SK)

Downs, Florence S. – Journal of Professional Nursing, 1989
Columbia and New York University probably served as the breeding grounds for the debates about whether nursing is a practice discipline, a clinical science, or a basic science, as well as for arguments about how practice and research should be related and, ultimately, how the DNS differs from the PhD.
