Discusses cotherapy as a treatment modality and as a counselor training procedure. Presents an educational rationale for cotherapy and addresses some of the advantages and problems with the approach. Suggestions are also provided for implementing and supervising a cotherapy model. (JAC)

Two groups of 12 trainees were exposed to either monitor-modeling or immediate-feedback supervision in their practicum. Ten-minute individual counseling sessions with coached clients were taped before and after the practicum. Three independent judges rated the tapes. Data supports the relative effectiveness of monitor-modeling supervision. (Author)

Counseling students who evaluated a school-based substance abuse training model praised the opportunity to receive specialized experiences and skill development not available in the regular counseling curriculum. The program succeeded in training counselors to design and implement prevention and intervention programs in the school setting. (RJM)
