A model for cross-cultural and interdisciplinary teaching is suggested to fill the need of community colleges for curriculum and instruction models that can help students of unlike backgrounds and capabilities. This model offers a mechanism for bringing together unlike cultures to enable students to look for parallels and relationships. (JMD)

The writings of Martin Luther King Jr. deserve to be read in undergraduate humanities classes but not in the spirit advocated by former Secretary of Education William Bennett. It is argued that Bennett downplays the struggles against racial discrimination and chooses the most conservative King pieces for the literary canon. (SLD)
