Gallagher, Ann; Bennett, Randy Elliot; Cahalan, Cara; Rock, Donald A. – Educational Assessment, 2002
Evaluated whether variance due to computer-based presentation was associated with performance on a new constructed-response type, Mathematical Expression, that requires students to enter expressions. No statistical evidence of construct-irrelevant variance was detected for the 178 undergraduate and graduate students, but some examinees reported…

Bennett, Randy Elliot; And Others – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1987
The validity of Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) Verbal-Mathematical discrepancies as indicators of college learning disability (LD) was assessed for four groups of LD students (Total N about 5000) taking different test formats. Comparison with non-LD student scores indicated no evidence of larger discrepancies for the LD groups. (Author/DB)

Enright, Mary K.; Rock, Donald A.; Bennett, Randy Elliot – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1998
Examined alternative-item types and section configurations for improving the discriminant and convergent validity of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) general test using a computer-based test given to 388 examinees who had taken the GRE previously. Adding new variations of logical meaning appeared to decrease discriminant validity. (SLD)

Bennett, Randy Elliot; Ragosta, Marjorie – Journal of Special Education, 1985
The performance of disabled and non-disabled students on college admissions test were compared. Performance of learning disabled and hearing impaired students appears most discrepant from the norm. Evidence relating to validity and reliability of admissions tests for handicapped and nondisabled examinees suggests no dependable differences in…

Bennett, Randy Elliot; And Others – 1991
This study investigated the convergent validity of expert-system scores for four mathematical constructed-response item formats. A five-factor model was proposed comprised of four constructed-response format factors and a Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) General Test quantitative factor. Subjects were drawn from examinees taking a single form of…
