Kim, Nayoung; Oh, JungSu – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2023
We investigated the effect of careless or insufficient effort (C/IE) responses in a study using Amazon's Mechanical Turk. A factor mixture model was used to identify latent classes based on the pattern of responses with biases and examine the effect of C/IE responses on the fit of the theoretical model.

Fox, Rina S.; Merz, Erin L.; Solórzano, Martha T.; Roesch, Scott C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
This study used latent profile analysis (LPA) to identify acculturation profiles. A three-profile solution fit the data best, and comparisons on demographic and psychosocial outcomes as a function of profile yielded expected results. The findings support using LPA as a parsimonious way to model acculturation without anticipating profiles in…

Lopez, Frederick G.; Fons-Scheyd, Alia; Bush-King, Imelda; McDermott, Ryon C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
A latent class analysis of dyadic perfectionism scores within a college sample (N = 369) identified four classes of participants. Controlling for gender and current dating status, class membership was associated with significant differences on several measures of relationship attitudes. Gender and class membership also significantly interacted in…

Kim, Seong-Hyeon; Beretvas, S. Natasha; Sherry, Alissa R. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
This study investigated the Outcome Questionnaire's (OQ-45) factor structure and demonstrated the use of factor mixture modeling (FMM) for the purpose of score validation. OQ-45 scores did not fit the one-class, one- and three-factor models. Use of FMM to identify a two-class model is detailed. Implications for OQ-45 users are provided. (Contains…

Dillon, Michael; Weissman, Shel – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1987
Examined relationship between Holland's personality types as measured by the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory and Jung's personality types as measured by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. College students' (N=394) responses to the two instruments revealed significant associations between certain types based on interests and preferences.…

Jones, W. Paul – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1993
Investigated model for reducing time for administration of Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) using real-data simulation of Bayesian scaling in computerized adaptive administration. Findings from simulation study using data from 127 undergraduates are strongly supportive of use of Bayesian scaled computerized adaptive administration of MBTI.…

Jackson, Evelyn W.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1994
Examined whether expert raters (n=5) could agree about classification of Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) items and whether they agreed with MCAT student manual in labeling skill being measured by each test item. Results revealed difficulties in replicating authors' labeling of skills for reading items on practice test provided with 1991 MCAT…

Chandler, Louis A.; Gallagher, Robert P. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 1996
Describes the development of a taxonomy of student problems seen at university and college counseling centers. Staff counselors at 503 institutions of higher education across the nation were sent a total of four surveys. Results suggest a reasonable taxonomy of problems specific to students might be constructed to encompass frequent and…
