Validity of the SVIB for predicting career choice at the end of college was studied with able black and white men who were winners of National Achievement and National Merit Scholarships in 1966. Membership in career groups was predicted at least as well for these able blacks as it was for the whites. (Author)

Tested whether scores on the Self Directed Search relate to career development needs in a study of 138 college students. Findings showed the scores related differentially in ways predicted by Holland (1973) and supported probing whether college students earning low investigative scores were behind in their career development. Examined the reliability, construct validity, and predictive validity of the Non-Cognitive Questionnaire (NCQ) for different racial groups, using a sample of 1,975 Black and White college students. Results showed the NCQ significantly predicted persistence for Black students and predicted grades for both groups. (JAC)

Investigated whether the emphasis on ACT scores for admission to engineering school is justified. Using stepwise regression procedures, multiple regression equations were derived using data from 328 students.
