Determinants of Students' Performance in a Sociological Statistics Course
Zekeri, Andrew A.; Diabate, Youssouf; Nnedu, Cordelia C.; Zekeri, Lilian U.
College Student Journal, v53 n2 p175-180 Sum 2019
Drawing on data from the survey of former students, the primary purpose of this analysis is to identify determinants of students' performance in a sociological statistics class. Multiple correlation regression was used in analyzing the data. The results revealed that student status, previous courses taken in mathematics and statistics were the most important predictors. A student's gender does not have a significant effect on performance in the course. The findings suggest that the more mathematics and statistics courses a student have taken before enrolling in any statistics class may contribute to his or her overall performance.
