Comprehensive Learner Records: The Student Voice

This study seeks to share student feedback about the design and creation of comprehensive learner records. Student input is not often solicited as institutions develop new credentials issued to students. Our workshops encouraged students to consider how they would develop new credentials and what artifacts and features they would include on these records, among other questions. We find that participants envision a record that is flexible and allows them to personalize the contents based on their needs. Participants also agreed with many of the features that are already included in comprehensive learner records. Implications are considered about how institutions can communicate with students about their records and the value this brings to their education.
