Sidney-Anthony McPhee
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene University
This was a causal comparative study examining and comparing student class schedules and credit load to academic success by grade point average earned at a Tennessee community college. The results of this causal comparative study utilizing a mixed methods data collection revealed significant differences in credit load, grade point average (GPA) and course schedules. Findings suggest the students at the Tennessee community college achieve higher GPA's when they take 1-6 credit hours or 17-21 credit hours and take classes only on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The results were based on a sample size of 144 students and 15 faculty/administrators. Sixty six percent of faculty/administrators believed there was a relationship between scheduling and GPA while ninety nine percent of students believed there was a relationship between scheduling and GPA.
