A study that sought to identify and describe the nature and content of questions asked by pharmacy patrons at the prescription counter is reported. It is argued that not nearly enough pharmacists are now engaged in public health activities, and that pharmacy education has failed to recognize the potential for pharmacists in public health as well as to acquaint pharmacy students with role models in public health.
