Unwed mothers who decide to place their child for adoption were compared, both pre- and post-parturition, with those who chose to keep their child. Women who keep their child have a high ideal self-concept following the birth, and are more conforming and conservative than the women who surrender their child. (Author)

Examined relationships between differences in counsellor trainee's perceived and measured need levels and Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores and grade point averages (GPA). GRE scores were generally inversely related to differences in measured and perceived needs levels' higher GRE scores were associated with smaller differences. (Author)

The characteristics, motives and goals of mature male students (N=22) are compared to those of an age-matched sample of mature women continuing their education. Men continued their education for career-oriented reasons, while women were seeking more personal goals. Explanations are suggested for male compliance with stereotypes. (Author)

A study involving 541 female students, in four grade levels in an urban commercial secondary school is reported. It was concluded that individual and group counselling have distinctively different effects, and that these effects tend to last for extended periods (at least one year) without reinforcement.
