An experiment in teaching mathematics to non-science, non-mathematics majors by two different methods, lecture and "open classroom," is reported. The primary findings of the study indicate that students learn equally well in either setting and that student personality characteristics may have a slight effect on individual gains. (JMD)

To assess student feeling toward large group instruction, an attitude survey of 17 questions was administered before and after participation in such a class. Tremendous attitude changes from negative to positive were attributed largely to effective media use in the class. (LBH)
