Compared populations of Arts and Sciences students who had determined their majors and those who had not. The determined group was more likely to remain in school and to achieve greater academic success than the undetermined group. More women tended to have declared majors than did men. (Author)

Comparison of Perceived and Actual Counseling Center Usage Patterns in Five Midwestern Universities.

Proactive counselor intervention requires recognition of the pattern of client requests for service. Five midwestern university counseling centers supplied usage data on client contacts. Counselors accurately reported the pattern but based it on perception of total contacts rather than initial contacts. (Author)

This investigation was designed to ascertain the relationship between alienation and specified forms of drug use in three differing collegiate settings. The results indicated that, contrary to many subjective judgements, there was essentially no significant relationship between students' degree of alienation and their use of drugs. (Author)
