High school students (N=81) were surveyed regarding their attitudes on nine factors regarding the alcoholic and his alcoholism, and the drug abuser and his drug abuse. Analysis of the data indicated that on eight of the nine factors the students tended to view the two pathologies in essentially the same way. (Author)

This is the third survey undertaken to assess changes in knowledge and attitudes concerning drugs among students from Georgia high schools. Results revealed 56 percent of the students possessed knowledge of the drug culture and 3 percent had tried hard drugs, with none being regular users. (Author)

An upward trend of psychoactive drug use within the lower grade levels was observed among 616 high school students. Although different patterns of drug use exist between parochial and public high school sophomores, by their junior year the two groups were similar. (Author)

This study evaluated the reactions of college students to two types of drug education pamphlets. One type was a lengthy textbookish pamphlet. The other consisted of four brief, illustrated pamphlets. The 26,316 patients who entered drug therapy programs participating in the DARP from June, 1971, to March, 1973, and who had used drugs for at least two years were grouped into three drug use categories. Differences were observed among these three groups regarding the first drug used daily and the age at first drug use. (Author)

Knowledge and attitudes of technical college students were compared after exposing them to drug education programs in three formats: lecture, mixed media, and an agency film program. Interviews with a nationwide sample (N=1357) of young and low-income black, chicano, and Caribbean men and women, as well as with nonminority counterparts, reveal the large majority are uninformed about the effects of licit and illicit drugs, nor do they know much about a range of other drug-related consequences. Follow-up survey was undertaken to assess the changes in knowledge and existing attitudes or opinions about drugs by freshmen through seniors from the same high school previously reported in a 1971 study.
