Way, Jennifer; Cartwright, Katherin – Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia, 2023
This paper presents an initial analysis of 10 Preschool children's responses to a look-draw-trace-draw task. The findings suggest that figure-tracing helped half the children to produce a more accurate representation of the geometric figure presented to them, in their second drawing.

Hong, Jiye – Studies in Second Language Learning and Teaching, 2023
To date, very limited research interest has been given to the strategies English medium instruction (EMI) teachers or lecturers deploy to provide corrective feedback (CF) on the language use to their students during class interaction. In other words, when EMI teachers incidentally focus on students' problematic language use, how do they correct it…

Drevon, Daniel D.; Reynolds, Jennifer L. – Journal of Behavioral Education, 2018
This study compared the effectiveness and efficiency of an error-correction procedure, response repetition, to a prompting procedure, simultaneous prompting, on the acquisition and maintenance of multiplication facts for three typically developing 3rd grade students. This study employed an adapted alternating treatments design nested in a multiple…

Guzmán-Alcón, Irene – English Language Teaching, 2019
It is widely accepted that the learning of a new language, among other advantages, promotes respect and interest of the students towards other cultures and languages. The question is how learning languages can be promoted in educational settings. The aim of the present study is to explore the principles of communicative language teaching in…

Booth, Julie L.; McGinn, Kelly M.; Barbieri, Christina; Begolli, Kreshnik N.; Chang, Briana; Miller-Cotto, Dana; Young, Laura K.; Davenport, Jodi L. – Grantee Submission, 2017
In the present chapter, we review the evidence for several principles that are especially promising for improving mathematics instruction. Using the classification scheme proposed by Koedinger et al. (2013), we begin with principles that focus on improving memory and fluency: scaffolding, distributed practice, and feedback. We then move to worked…

Reynolds, Jennifer L.; Drevon, Daniel D.; Schafer, Bradley; Schwartz, Kaitlyn – School Psychology Forum, 2016
This study examined the impact of response repetition as an error-correction strategy in teaching subtraction facts to three students with learning difficulties. Written response repetition (WRR) and oral response repetition (ORR) were compared using an alternating treatments design nested in a multiple baseline design across participants.…

Kembitzky, Kimberle A. – ProQuest LLC, 2009
This study examined the improvement of students' comprehension of geometric concepts through analytical writing about their own misconceptions using a reflective tool called an ERNIe (acronym for ERror aNalyIsis). The purpose of this study was to determine whether the ERNIe process could be used to correct geometric misconceptions, as well as how…

Francis, Richard W. – Thought & Action, 2006
The author has discovered that errors in grades often occur when scores are combined for final marks. These errors are not related to the grading individual assignments. Rather, they occur when teachers at all grade levels bring individual test and assignment scores together for the students' final grades. Unfortunately, professors of mathematics…
