Morris, Susan; Messer, Stanley B. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1978

Krampen, Guenter – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1980
Alcoholics were more external in powerful others control orientations, more external in chance control orientations, more hopeless, and more Machiavellianistic than the nonalcoholics. Results support the findings of alcoholics' relative externality in locus of control reinforcement. (Author)

Haines, Phil; And Others – Social Behavior and Personality, 1980
Examined whether a measure of self-reported, task-specific, efficacy expectations would correspond more with persistence or locus of control. Results indicated that beliefs in locus of control were strongly related to persistence and that efficacy expectations were not as significant. (RC)

Keller, John M.; Pugh, Richard C. – 1974
Sex differences in the correlations between Rotter's Internal-External (I-E) Control of Reinforcement Scale and the Omnibus Personality Inventory (OPI) are predicted, based on a theoretical expectation of a relationship between I-E and adjustment, and previous research. Both tests were administered to 140 male and 130 female college freshmen.…

Leung, Paul – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1973
A training procedure that appears to facilitate both empathic understanding and selective response to client statements is one built around the training of Zen Buddhist monks. Subjects trained in Zen techniques of external and internal concentration were found to increase their ability in these two counseling behaviors. (Author/LA)

Fielding, Michael F.; Pappas, James P. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1974
This is an investigation of a college freshman sample of the relationship between the Strong Vocational Interest Blank, Form T399, and the Rotter Internal-External Control of Reinforcement Scale (I-E scale) which measures locus of control of reinforcement. (Author)

Costello, Elizabeth J. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Examined the relationship among depression, locus of control of reinforcement, and age in psychiatric outpatients and students. Found depression and locus of control highly correlated; age negatively correlated with locus of control and positively with depression. Discusses the possible causal relationship between external locus of control and…

Stephens, Mark W. – 1972
A study was conducted to: (1) assess the equivalence of the Nowicki Strickland Locus of Control Scale for Children, the Stephens-Delys Reinforcement Contingency Interview, and the Gruen-Korte-Stephens test and the construct validity of each; and (2) investigate the impact on IE of the open classroom Follow Through program sponsored by the…
