Investigated factors influencing truancy from a juvenile court treatment facility. Youth placed in the facility were compared for number of truancies, background, and personality variables. Two experiments found support for the proposition that, when cognitive cues (knowledge of children's chronological age) conflict with perceptual cues (perceived height), the latter cues, although inappropriate, are more salient in determining adult expectations for achievement. (MP)

Results of this comparison of treatment methods indicated that all groups improved significantly on drinking measures. Breath testing was found to be unhelpful as an assessment procedure. The degree to which therapists showed accurate empathy proved to be a good predictor of client outcome. (Author)

Examined the self-esteem of middleborns compared with firstborns and lastborns. Studied the number, spacing, and sex of siblings of the middleborn.
