Meudell, P. R. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1972
Results showed that recall of verbal material hardly was affected by the eye-movement task but was much affected by backward counting, while nonverbal material was recalled with the same efficiency irrespective of type of distractor, suggesting different types of storage for the two types of material. (Author)

Gelman, Rochel; Weinberg, Denise Hootstein – Child Development, 1972
Compensation as assessed by any one test or criterion used is more difficult than conservation. And, the understanding of the compensation principle, as manifested in verbal statements, continues to develop well after the age at which liquid conservation may be taken for granted. (Authors)

Phillips, E. Ray; Kane, Robert B.
A major problem encountered by both teachers and authors of instructional materials is the sequencing of instructional activities. A review of the literature is given and it is pointed out that there is substantial evidence to support the general theory of the hierarchical structure of knowledge. A learning hierarchy for the computational skills…

Gordon, Donald A.; Baumeister, Alfred A. – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1972
Pattern of results suggests that retardates were relatively deficient in the spontaneous use of effective rehearsal mechanisms, but could perform as well as normals when instructed to use a specific rehearsal strategy. (Authors)

Barrett, Gerald V.; And Others – 1975
The study focused on the individual attributes predictive of performance and work satisfaction in two contrasting work situations: (1) with a simple task to be perceived as low on job structural attributes (LJSA) and (2) with a more complex task designed to have a higher level of job structural attributes (HJSA). The job structural variables of…

Barrett, Gerald V.; And Others – 1975
The study integrates various elements of past approaches to job design. It focuses on determining individual characteristics associated with performance and work satisfaction on a simulated maintenance task designed to be seen as low in job structural attributes (LJSA) by one group and the same task designed to be perceived as high in job…

Watson, William J. – 1974
Occupational analysts using Comprehensive Occupational Data Analysis Programs (CODAP) make subjective decisions at various stages in their analysis of an occupation. The possibility exists that two different analysts could reach different conclusions in analyzing an occupation, and thereby provide divergent guidance to management. Two analysts,…

Taylor, Elaine N.; Vineberg, Robert – 1971
The job performance of men in four different occupational specialties (Vehicle Repairman, Supply Clerk, Armor Crewman, and Cook) was measured by intensive Job Sample Tests of 4 to 5 hours in length and by more conventional Job Knowledge Tests. Curves have been derived that provide estimates of how job performance can be expected to vary as a…

Oakland, Thomas; Emmer, Edmund – 1972
Previous research has indicated that knowledge of the criterion group differentially affects test performance of minority group members. The effects which knowledge of the criterion group has on the test performance of eighth grade Negro and Mexican-American Ss were examined. There was no evidence that comparison with one of four norm groups…
