Major Student Ethnic Minority Group Concentrations in the California Public Schools. Research Report Number One.

The primary objective of this study was to identify concentrations and locations of American Indian, Asian American, Black, and Spanish Surname students attending the public schools of California. A comparative analysis of the four ethnic minority groups being studied is also presented. The study first identifies four major ethnic minority groups in the United States and indicates their respective percentages of the total United States population. Second, the same ethnic minority groups are identified for California and compared to national percentages. Third, the study identifies the student ethnic minority population in California. Results are presented in tabular form with narrative analysis. (JD)
