Bertsch, Kathy M.; Houlihan, Daniel; Lenz, Melissa A.; Patte, Christi A. – Electronic Journal of Research in Educational Psychology, 2009

Teachers' instructions to students within the classroom, aid in the acquisition of both the students' academic and nonacademic skills. Houlihan, Daniel; And Others – Child & Family Behavior Therapy, 1994
Compares compliance rates to two sets of commands derived from research in child noncompliance: easy motor commands and difficult motor commands. Results show a clear difference in the natural rates of compliance to different types of one-step commands, suggesting that even subtle differences in commands affect response rates. (LKS)

Houlihan, Daniel; And Others – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 1994
An intervention for noncompliance, consisting of a series of requests promoting a high probability of compliance followed either 5 seconds or 20 seconds later by a request with a low probability of compliance, was implemented with a preschool child with autism. Results indicated that a shorter interprompt time resulted in higher rates of…

Houlihan, Daniel; Brandon, Paul K. – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 1996
This commentary discusses John Nevin's article on establishing compliance via behavioral momentum involving high-probability procedures, and questions whether applications of behavioral momentum can be derived from the theory, whether applications could have been developed if the theory not been formulated, and whether the theory will add…
