Hauben, Manfred – Australian Mathematics Education Journal, 2019
Manfred Hauben proposes an approach to teaching non-transitive relationships between 'paradoxical' dice using simple statistical graphics. This method usefully supplements traditional approaches of conditional probability calculations and trees, and students are thereby better able to see what is going on and the mechanism of these relationships.

Dry, Matthew J.; Fontaine, Elizabeth L. – Journal of Problem Solving, 2014
The Traveling Salesperson Problem (TSP) is a computationally difficult combinatorial optimization problem. In spite of its relative difficulty, human solvers are able to generate close-to-optimal solutions in a close-to-linear time frame, and it has been suggested that this is due to the visual system's inherent sensitivity to certain geometric…

Patching, Geoffrey R.; Englund, Mats P.; Hellstrom, Ake – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 2012
Despite the importance of both response probability and response time for testing models of choice, there is a dearth of chronometric studies examining systematic asymmetries that occur over time- and space-orders in the method of paired comparisons. In this study, systematic asymmetries in discriminating the magnitude of paired visual stimuli are…
