Effects of embedding regulation questions and regulation hints in a concurrent computer-assisted instruction program aimed at word processor use were examined for 133 Dutch second-grade vocational education students. Draft and revised computer-written narratives were produced by 34 fourth graders in individual writing and revising, individual writing and revising with a peer, or paired writing and revising conditions. Results show that children, especially when working with a peer, can carry out revisions even without explicit training. (SLD)

Synthesized speech was added to a word processor used by children in grades two and five. Each student wrote four stories on a microcomputer and received spoken feedback on two of them.
