Accessible 3D Printing: Multicolor Molecular Models From Consumer-Grade, Single Filament 3D Printers
H. Martin; E. Eisner; J. K. Klosterman – Journal of Chemical Education, 2023
3D printers have facilitated a wealth of 3D printed molecular models illustrating key structural concepts for student learning. However, general adoption of 3D printed models in the organic chemistry classroom proceeds slowly as the majority of consumer-grade 3D (fused deposition modeling (FDM) and resin) printers are inherently monochromatic,…

Avinal, Merve; Aydin, Abdullah – Journal of Turkish Science Education, 2022
The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the activities designed with 3D printing technology on the teaching of the sixth-grade systems in our body unit and to determine the views of students on this technology. In this study, a mixed research design in which quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together was…

Finch, Lila; Moreno, Celeste; Shapiro, R. Benjamin – Cognition and Instruction, 2021
Creating learning environments that integrate arts, sciences, and computing in education can improve learning in these disciplines. In particular, transdisciplinary integrations of these disciplines can lead to expansive alterations or dissolutions of epistemological, ideological, and methodological boundaries. We wish to support teachers in the…

Carleton, Renee E. – Bioscene: Journal of College Biology Teaching, 2012
Computer-aided learning (CAL) is used increasingly to teach anatomy in post-secondary programs. Studies show that augmentation of traditional cadaver dissection and model examination by CAL can be associated with positive student learning outcomes. In order to reduce costs associated with the purchase of skeletons and models and to encourage study…

Matthews, Kurt R.; Landmark, James D.; Stickle, Douglas F. – Journal of Chemical Education, 2004
The procedure to produce standard curve for starch concentration measurement by image analysis using a color scanner and computer for data acquisition and color analysis is described. Color analysis is performed by a Visual Basic program that measures red, green, and blue (RGB) color intensities for pixels within the scanner image.

Barden, William, Jr. – Science PROBE!, 1991
Described is a simple electronic interface that can receive signals from up to four analog sensors and four event detectors and save the data on disk. Schematic diagrams, construction details, sample temperature plot and weather station logging programs, and a parts list are included. (KR)
