The current use of microcomputers in the British educational system seems dogged by a mainframe philosophy. As a consequence, the educational potential of microcomputer peripherals has not been carefully considered. Research is urgently needed in this area so that decisions are made on strong educational and technical grounds. (Author/LLS)

Some experiences with a classroom computer graphics facility are recounted to show how such a facility has changed the views of some instructors teaching mathematics at the college level. Teachers are encouraged to search out and seize opportunities to acquire graphics hardware, with the added teaching capabilities promoted. (MP)

The nature of instruction in a computer club that is open only to seventh to ninth graders is detailed. The club has access to five TRS-80 Model II computers, and membership is limited. Students are instructed from the beginning in graphics. Examples of program assignments are listed. (MP)

A survey of computer education in engineering colleges was conducted in 1981 and the results reported in EJ 287 351. A follow-up survey conducted in 1984 asked many of the same questions to identify trends. Results of this survey with comparisons to the 1981 survey are presented and discussed. (JN)
